当院では男性不妊専門クリニックの責任を果たすべく、正確で精度の高い精液検査の提供を目指しております。当院の精液検査では自動測定器を用いず、総精子数や精子運動率だけでなく、精子正常形態率や精子生存率までWHOの基準に準拠して、他施設の標準的な精液検査よりも多項目に、経験豊富な検査技師による目視の詳細かつ正確な精液検査を行っております

 

当院が詳細かつ正確な精液検査を継続して行っている理由は、男性不妊治療の適応は、正確な精液の評価から判断するべきだと考えているからです。

一般の『郵送キット』での精液検査は簡便ですが、自然妊娠を期待できるかどうかの重要な評価項目となる精子運動率が測定できておりません（郵送の過程で精子の運動率が低下するため、精子運動率は検査項目から外されており、精子運動率の低下が見逃されます）。

『持ち込み（持参）の精液検査』では、温度（気温）・採取からの時間の影響を受け、特に寒い季節においてはその影響は大きく、良好な精子でも運動性が低下する可能性があります。

郵送キットでの精液検査では問題は指摘されなかったがご妊娠がない場合、もしくは持ち込みの精液検査で運動率が悪く再検査をお考えの場合は、当院での院内採精での精液検査をぜひご検討ください。

男性不妊治療においては、精度の高い、正確な精液検査で評価することがまず第一に必要です。

当院では全ての精液検査で、自動測定器を用いず、経験豊富な技師が目視で正確に測定し、総精子数、精子運動率のみならず、精子生存率や精子正常形態率、膿精液症の有無など自動測定器では測定されない項目を含めて多項目に詳細に評価します。当院での精子正常形態率、生存率の測定は自動測定器では難しい精子を染色液で染めた後の評価により行い、自動測定器による数値による評価とは評価方法が異なります。WHOの基準値での精液の評価にはWHOに準拠した検査方法で行うことが前提であり、検査法の精度に問題があると精液の評価自体が難しくなるとされております。

Our Commitment to Accurate and High-Quality Semen Testing

At our clinic, as a specialized center for male infertility, we are committed to providing semen testing that is both accurate and highly reliable. Unlike standard tests at many facilities, our semen analysis does not rely on automated measuring devices. Instead, experienced laboratory technicians perform detailed visual evaluations in accordance with WHO standards. We assess not only total sperm count and motility, but also sperm morphology (normal form rate) and sperm viability, offering a more comprehensive analysis than typical semen tests.

The reason we continue to perform such detailed and precise semen testing is that we believe the proper indication for male infertility treatment must be based on an accurate evaluation of semen quality.

Limitations of Common Testing Methods

• Mail-in kits: While convenient, they cannot measure sperm motility—one of the most important indicators of natural conception. During shipping, motility decreases, so this parameter is excluded, and reduced motility may go undetected.
• Brought-in samples: When semen is transported to a clinic, results are affected by temperature and time since collection. In colder seasons, even healthy sperm may show reduced motility.

If a mail-in test shows no issues but pregnancy has not occurred, or if a brought-in sample shows poor motility and you are considering retesting, we strongly recommend semen testing performed on-site at our clinic.

Why On-Site Testing Matters

Accurate semen evaluation is the first and most essential step in male infertility treatment. At our clinic, all semen analyses are performed manually by skilled technicians, without automated devices. We measure:

• Total sperm count
• Sperm motility
• Sperm viability
• Normal morphology rate
• Presence of pyospermia (leukocytes in semen)

These parameters, especially viability and morphology, are assessed using staining techniques that automated devices cannot perform. WHO standards require testing methods that conform to their guidelines; if the testing method itself lacks precision, semen evaluation becomes unreliable.
